- 解釈：昔、土佐の船は粗末であったので、他の港へ寄ると、よい錨は土佐に置いてきたと言い繕（つくろ）ったという。どんなによい物でも、その場にないのでは役に立たないことのたとえ。

- Interpretation：It will not be helpful if there is even no best thing on that occasion. It is not possible to prove because there is no evidence.
